Delhi Daredevils (DD) defeated mighty Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 40th match of Indian Premier League and improved its rank in IPL 2017 points table. While batting first, SRH scored 185 runs in 20 overs with the loss of 3 wickets. Chasing the target successfully, Delhi’s team scored 189 runs in 19.1 overs with the loss of 4 wickets. SRH’s rank in the points table hasn’t been disturbed with the loss in this game, which was played at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium located in New Delhi.
In this significant match, Delhi Daredevils won the toss and elected to bowl first. SRH’s opener batsmen David Warner and Shikhar Dhawan commenced the batting inning with a good start. Skipper Warner hit 30 runs in 21 balls while Dhawan made 28 runs in 17 balls. After the fall of wickets of both these players, Kane Williamson and Yuvraj Singh came to bat next.
Singh tried to establish a stable partnership with Williamson, but the New Zealand’s cricketer lost his wicket after scoring 24 run sin 24 balls. Moises Henriques assisted the left handed Indian batsman in scoring runs for the team. Hitting 11 fours and 1 six, Yuvraj Singh scored 70 runs in 41 balls and contributed majorly in setting up a big target of 186 runs for the antagonist team.
Led by Karun Nair, Delhi’s team kicked off their batting inning with speedy approach. Opener batsmen Sanju Samson and skipper Nair made 24 runs and 39 runs, respectively. After the loss of their wickets, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer played good innings. Pant hit 34 runs in 20 balls and Iyer made 33 runs in 25 balls.
After the dismissals of Rishabh and Shreyas, the next batsmen Corey Anderson and Chris Morris stepped into the ground to do the rest work of scoring the required runs. Anderson hit huge shots to enhance the team’s overall run rate. Hitting 2 sixes and 3 fours, Corey scored 41 runs in 24 balls. On the other end of the strike, Morris hit 15 run sin 7 balls and DD won the game by 6 wickets.
