Indian bowler Irfan Pathan to join Gujarat Lions?

Well known Indian bowler Irfan Pathan will be seen playing in the rest of the matches of ongoing Indian Premier League. The left hand medium pacer didn’t play the initial matches of IPL 2017. He will be replacing Dwayne Bravo, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to physical injury. The team is expected to perform well with the return of Irfan Pathan in its fifteen member squad.

The 32-year-old Indian cricketer took his twitter timeline to revea this development. Irfan Pathan, who is well remembered for his crucial performance in 2007’s T20 World Cup championship, has earlier played forĀ Delhi Daredevils, KXIP, SRH, RPS andĀ CSK in the domestic cricket tournament of IPL. For the tenth edition of Indian Premier League, Gujarat Lions will be his sixth team.

Though he has hinted his fans that he will be making his comeback in the fastest format of cricket competition in forthcoming matches, an official confirmation from the technical committee of Indian Premier League is yet to come out. Irfan’s inclusion in the team is expected to enhance the team’s performance in this tournament. Irfan has played a total of 102 matches in IPL. He picked up 80 wickets and scored 1137 runs while playing all those games.

In the absence of Irfan in initial games, Gujarat Lions (GL) has showcased poor performance in this ongoing domestic cricket competition. Led by Suresh Raina, the team is lying at the bottom position in IPL 2017 points table. Till now, GL has played seven matches and it succeeded in winning only two games. The team lost five matches and has a net run rate of -0.844.
