The 26th match of Indian Premier League is about to be played between Gujarat Lions and Kings XI Punjab on 23rd April. The game is going to be played at Saurashtra Cricket Association stadium, which is located in Rajkot. The match is scheduled to start at 4:00 PM, according to Indian Standard Time. This will be the seventh match for both teams in this season of IPL.
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) has played six matches till now. The team is set to play its next game against Suresh Raina’s Gujarat Lions (GL), which has also played six games so far in this domestic cricket tournament. KXIP has lost four matches and won two games out of six cricket matches. GL too holds the same track record of loosing four matches and winning two games.
Led by Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell, team KXIP ranks 6th in IPL points table and GL secures eighth position in the same chart. Though both teams have been performing in quite similar ways, their net run rates have differed their ranks in points table. Punjab’s team has -0.606 net run rate, which is much more than Gujarat Lions’ -0.769 net run rate.
Kings XI Punjab had a great start to its journey in this edition of Indian Premier League. The team won its first game of IPL 2017 which was played against Rising Pune Supergiants. Maintaining consistency in its performance, team KXIP achieved victory in its second match and defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 8 wickets. Unfortunately, KXIP’s performance declined in the next four games as it lost all those matches.
On other side, Gujarat Lions had a stuttering commencement to its journey in 10th season of Indian Premier League. After loosing initial two games, the team won its third match of IPL 2017 which was played against Rising Pune Supergiants at Saurashtra Cricket Association in Rajkot on 14th April. After its first victory, the team again lost in next two games. On 21st April, team GL won its sixth game of this tournament against Kolkata Knight Riders and registered its second victory.
