Globally illustrious fastest bowler Lasith Malinga, who is specially known for his strange bowling style, has been included in Sri Lanka’s national cricket team for ICC Champions Trophy 2017. The right handed pacer didn’t play a single international match due to knee injury after 2016. Malinga played his last match in the 50-over format in November 2015 against West Indies in Sri Lanka.
The 33-year-old fast bowler recovered from the knee injury and made his comeback on Sri Lanka’s tour of Australia earlier this year. He is presently busy playing ongoing tournament of Indian Premier League 2017. He plays for Mumbai Indians team in IPL. Thilanga Sumathipala, who is the president of Sri Lankan cricket board confirmed on Monday (24th April) that Malinga will be playing the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy, which is slated to begin on 2nd June this year.
Alongside Lasith, Chamara Kapugedera is also going to be the part of national cricket team of Sri Lanka for the Champions Trophy 2017. The 30-year-old popular Sri Lankan cricketer last played an international match in January 2016. Experienced cricketer Angelo Mathews, who couldn’t play a single match in the cricket series against Bangladesh this year due to physical injury, will as usual lead the fifteen member Sri Lankan squad in this tournament.
