28th match of IPL 2017 is about to begin within few minutes. Mumbai Indians has won the toss and its skipper Rohit Sharma has elected to bowl first in this match, which is being played against Rising Pune Supergiants. The team RPS has earlier confronted with MI in the 2nd match of this tournament. Mumbai’s team faced defeat that game as RPS won it by 7 wickets.

Jos Buttler (38 runs), Nitish Rana (35 runs), Kieron Pollard (27 runs) and Hardik Pandya (35 runs) played crucial roles in setting up a huge target for the opponent team. While chasing the score of 185 runs, Pune’s team too faced same problem with the fall of Mayank Agarwal’s wicket in 4th over. Opener batsman Ajinkya Rahane and captain Steven Smith formed a needful partnership to score the runs.

Rahane scored 60 runs in 34 balls while Smith smashed 84 runs in 54 balls. After Rahane lost his wicket in eleventh over, Ben Stokes came to bat next and scored 21 runs in 14 balls. After the dismissal of Stokes, former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni came to bat next and scored 12 runs in 12 balls. Smith and Dhoni remained not out till the end and gave a finishing touch to the match with an admirable victory.

Presently, Mumbai Indians is in safer zone as it won six consecutive matches after its first defeat in the opening game. On other hand, RPS needs to win this game so as to improve its rank in IPL 2017 points table. The match is slated to begin at sharp 8:00 PM on 24th April 2017. The game will be played at Wankhede stadium located in Mumbai, the capital city of Maharashtra.
