Pakistan vs West Indies 1st Test : Pakistan won by 7 wickets

In Pakistan vs West Indies first Test match, Pakistani cricket team succeeded in winning the game by 7 wickets. Batting first in the initial inning, West Indies scored 286 runs in 95 overs. Kieran Powell (33 runs), Roston Chase (63 runs), Shane Dowrich (56 runs), Jason Holder (57 runs) and Devendra Bishoo (28 runs) played crucial role in setting a huge score of 280 runs. The team lost all ten wickets of it while building the triple digit runs.

Pakistan’s fast bowler Mohammad Amir, who was expected to perform well in this game, showcased his excellence by picking up the six wickets of opponent team. He played a pivotal role in grabbing the wickets of almost half of the players in batting lineup of the rival team. Yasir Shah picked up two wickets. Mohammad Abbas and Wahab Riaz picked up one wicket each.

Pakistan’s first batting inning commenced with a slow start. Opener batsman Azhar Ali lost his wicket after scoring just 15 runs. Another opener batsman Ahmed Shehzad scored 31 runs and was sent back to pavilion. Babar Azam and Younis Khan were the players to bat next. Azam scored 72 runs in 201 balls and Khan scored 58 runs in 138 balls.

Skipper Misbah-Ul-Haq played a vital role in this game by scoring 99 runs and remained not out till the end of Pakistan’s batting inning. Wicket-keeper-batsman Sarfraz Ahmed scored 54 runs. The team’s inning ended in 139th over with a total score of 407 runs. West Indies’ bowlers Shannon Gabriel and Alzarri Joseph picked up three wickets each. Jason Holder, Devendra Bishoo and Roston Chase picked up one wicket each while Kraigg Brathwaite went wicketless.

In the second inning of West Indies, the team scored 152 runs in 52.4 overs. Kraigg Brathwaite (14 runs), Kieran Powell (49 runs), Shimron Hetmyer (20 runs), Devendra Bishoo (18 runs), Roston Chase (16 runs) and Jason Holder (14 runs) contributed in setting up a total score of 152 runs. Pakistan’s Yasir Shah picked up six wickets while Mohammad Abbas grabbed two wickets. Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz took one wicket each.

Pakistan needed 31 runs to win the game. The team was expecting its opener batsmen to score those runs to achieve victory in the game. But opener batsmen Azhar Ali and Ahmed Shehzad lost their wickets in early stage of the game. Babar Azam was the man who batted next with an accompany of Younis Khan. Younis lost his wicket after scoring just six runs.

After his dismissal, team’s captain Misbah-Ul-Haq arrived on the ground and hit two consecutive sixes to finish the game to achieve an admirable victory for his team. Pakistan has gained 1-0 lead in the series of three Test cricket matches. The series’ next game, which will be Pakistan vs West Indies 2nd Test match, is about to begin on 30th April this year.
