West Indies defeated Pakistan in the third Twenty-20 match played on 1st April (Saturday) at Queen’s Park Oval stadium located at Port of Spain in Trinidad. West Indies’ cricket team chased the target of 138 runs successfully and won the game by seven wickets.
The game commenced with Pakistan batting first. After winning the toss, Pakistani captain opted to bat first and kicked off the inning with a good start. After loosing the wickets of Ahmed Shehzad and Imad Wasim in early stage of the inning, Kamran Akmal and Babar Azam scored 48 runs and 43 runs, respectively and built a good base for the team’s score.
After their departure, no Pakistan batsman succeeded in scoring double digit runs except Fakhar Zaman, who scored 21 runs and contributed significantly in setting up an average target of 138 runs for the opponents. Samuel Badree picked up maximum two wickets and Kesrick Williams, Carlos Brathwait, Sunil Narine and Marlon Samuels picked up one wicket each.
West Indies opener batsman Chadwick Walton scored 4 runs and lost his wicket in the very first over of the inning. Evin Lewis, the batsman at other end of the strike, geared up his performance and started hitting big shots. He scored 91 runs in 51 balls. Evin hit 9 sixes and 5 fours in his stormy individual performance. Marlon Samuels scored 18 runs and Jason Mohammed scored 17 runs.
Jason and Lendl Simmons gave finishing touch to the match with a mesmerizing victory. This is the first victory of West Indies in the series of four T20 matches. They need one more victory to level the lead by 2-2. Pakistan still leads the series by 2-1 as it won the first two games played last month (March). The fourth T20 match will be played on Sunday (2nd April).
