Rain hinders Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh 2nd One-Day International (ODI) match

In Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh 2nd One-Day International (ODI) match, the rain hindered second inning. After Sri Lankan team set up a huge target of 312 runs for the opponents, it started raining. The raining lasted for about one and a half hour which made the organisers to call the match off.

SL team surmounted the toss results and opted to bat first. The opening batsmen failed to give a good start to their inning as Dhanushka Gunathilaka, who was at non-striker’s end, lost his wicket in early stage of the game. After his departure, the Bangladeshi bowlers didn’t manage to break the long lasting partnership of skipper Upul Tharanga (65 runs) and Kusal Mendis (102 runs).

The captain unfortunately lost his wicket in 25th over and the opposite team got the second break-through. Wicket keeper Dinesh Chandimal scored 24 runs and lost his wicket within very less time. Later come batsmen – Asela Gunaratne and Milinda Siriwardana scored 39 runs and 30 runs, respectively.

The rest players scored single digit individual runs and didn’t manage to play big inning for their team. Sri Lankan team lost all its wickets by 49th over and ended up setting up a huge target of 312 runs for Bangladesh’s team. Bangladesh’s bowler Taskin Ahmad picked up maximum four wickets and Mustafizur Rahman, Mehedi Hasan and captain Mashrafe Mortaza picked up one wicket each. Shakib Al Hasan and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat went couldn’t pick up single wicket in this match.

Sri Lanka has one the first match and has already acquired 1-0 lead in the series of three ODI matches. The third ODI is about to played at Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo. After that match, the two teams will compete in the two 20-Twenty matches on 4th and 6th April, respectively.
