Rising Pune Supergiants IPL team’s key bolwer Ravichandran Ashwin is likely to miss the 10th season of Indian Premier League due to hernia injury. For nearly six to eight weeks, the right handed off spinner won’t be able to play in the series of any format of cricket.
This is not the first time that Ashwin has been ruled out of the series of cricket matches. After he carried an injury during the series of Test matches played against England in December last year, he was not picked up in Tamil Nadu squad for the Ranji Trophy semifinal against Karnataka.
There’s no confirmation whether the Indian off-spinner will play in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, which will be held in the month of June this year. The tournament is going to be hosted by England in the mid-2017. Selectors aren’t confirmed about Ashwin’s inclusion in Indian cricket team for the international championship.
Apart from this key player of Rising Pune Supergiants, the Royal Challengers Bangalore is also likely to miss its two main players – Virat Kohli and KL Rahul. Both of these star batsman are suffering from a shoulder injury. Virat is undergoing treatment for the trauma in India. KL Rahul will be heading to England for the medical treatment.
Anil Kumble, former captain and present coach of RCB, recently told media that AB de Villiers will be replacing Virat Kohli as the team’s captain if Virat fails to recover before the tournament. The tenth edition of IPL is going to start on 5th April this year.
