29th match of IPL 2017, which was about to be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad, was cancelled due to rain. The match wasn’t played due to the hindrance of rain in Bangalore. Both teams have been given one point each. With the addition of one point, SRH’s rank has remained at third position in IPL 2017 points table. RCB’s position in the same chart jumped to sixth place with five points.
All it happened that it started raining just before the toss which got delayed. Both teams, coaches of the teams and the audiences gathered in the stadium waited for the match to start. But the rain didn’t stop for about two hours. The ground was kept covered with waterproof coverings to prevent the ground from getting wet due to rain-water. After a long wait, the decision of abandoning the game was taken and one point was given to teams RCB and SRH.
The two teams had earlier confronted in the opening match of tenth edition of Indian Premier League. The game was played at Rajiv Gandhi International stadium located in Hyderabad, capital city of Telangana state. The match began at 8:00 PM IST on 5th April. While batting first, SRH scored 204 runs in 20 overs. Yuvraj Singh (62 runs), Moises Henriques (52 runs) and Shikhar Dhawan (40 runs) made needful contribution in setting up a massive triple digit score.
While chasing the target of 205 runs, RCB commenced with a stuttering start to its batting inning. Chris Gayle (32 runs), Mandeep Singh (24 runs), Travis Head (30 runs), wicket-keeper batsman (31 runs) and Shane Watson (22 runs) tried their best to score maximum runs. Their efforts to make their team win the game weren’t quite enough and the team lost that game by 35 runs.
