RPS vs GL IPL 2017 Live Score : Rising Pune Supergiants won by 5 wickets

Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) acquired victory in the match played against Gujarat Lions (GL) on 1st May. While batting first, Gujarat’s team set up a total score of 161 runs in 19.5 overs with the loss of ten wickets. Pune’s team successfully chased this target of three digit runs and won the game by 5 wickets. Left handed batsman Ben Stokes received ‘player of the match’ title for his unique contribution in his team’s victory.

Led by Australian cricketer Steven Smith, RPS won the toss and elected to bat first. Gujarat Lions’ opener batsmen Brendon McCullum and Ishan Kishan commenced their batting inning by hitting big shots. McCullum hit 5 fours and 2 sixes to score 45 runs in 27 balls. Kishan hit 3 fours and 2 sixes to make 31 runs in 24 balls. Team’s captain Suresh Raina failed to score maximum runs in this game and lost his wicket after hitting 8 runs in 8 balls.

After the fall of Raina’s wicket, powerful batsmen Aron Finch and Dwayne Smith too didn’t manage to score huge runs. Finch hit 1 six and 1 four to score 13 runs in 6 balls. Dwayne didn’t score a single run as he was bowled out by Imran Tahir on the very first ball. Wicket-keeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik and all rounder cricketer Ravindra Jadega made little contributions in hiking the team’s overall score. Karthik hit 29 runs and Jadeja scored 19 runs

Gujarat’s team lost all ten wickets in 19.5 overs and ended up scoring an average score of 161 runs. While chasing this massive score, Pune’s team had a decent start as its opener batsmen Ajinkay Rahane and captain Steven Smith lost their wickets in the very first over of their batting inning. Next batsman Rahul Tiwari too failed to score big runs. Manoj Tiwari lost his wicket without scoring a single run.

After the fall of four wickets, left handed Ben Stokes arrived in the ground and started hitting huge shots. Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni accompanied the foreigner cricketer by settling down of crease. Ben Stokes hit 7 fours and 6 sixes to score 103 runs in 63 balls. MS Dhoni lost his wicket after scoring 26 runs in 33 balls. Daniel Christian stepped into the ground just after Dhoni’s dismissal. Stokes remained not out till the end of the game. Christian gave a finishing touch to the match by hitting six on 5th ball of last over and RPS won the game by 5 wickets.
