In the 34th match of Indian Premier League 2017, Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) scored 157 runs while batting first. The opponent team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) needs 158 runs to win the match, which is being played at Maharashtra Cricket Association stadium located in Pune. Victory in this game is necessary for RCB so as to improve its rank in IPL 2017 points table.
After winning the toss, RCB skipper Virat Kohli opted to bowl first. The decision of inviting rival team to bat first seemed quite correct after the dismissal of RPS’s star batsman Ajinkya Rahane, who lost his wicket after scoring just 6 runs in 8 balls. Next batsmen Steven Smith accompanied another opener batsman Rahul Tripathi by forming a steady partnership.
Tripathi scored 37 runs in 28 balls while the team’s captain Steven Smith hit 45 runs in 32 balls. After the fall of their wickets, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Manoj Tiwari came to bat next. The two right handed batsmen tried their best to hit maximum number of big shots to hike the total score of their team. Bowlers of antagonist team didn’t let them succeed in hitting big shots.
However, Tiwari scored 44 runs in 35 balls. He hit 4 fours and 1 six to score those runs. On other hand, MS Dhoni made 21 runs in 17 balls. The former Indian skipper hit 1 four and 1 six to score 21 runs. The team ended up scoring 157 runs in 20 overs with the loss of three wickets. RCB needs to chase this target to clinch victory in this match.
