In the first T20 match played between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, Sri Lankan cricket team won the game by 6 wickets. While batting first, Bangladeshi cricket team scored 155 runs in 20 overs with the loss of six wickets. Sri Lankan cricket team successfully chased the target of 156 runs in 18.5 overs and achieved victory in the match.
Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first. Opener batsman Tamim Iqbal was bowled out by Lasith Malinga in the very first over. After the shocking dismissal of Iqbal on the second ball of initial over, Soumya Sarkar and Sabbir Rahman continued to make some runs and scored 29 runs and 16 runs, respectively.
Wicket-keeper Mushfiqr Rahim scored 8 runs while Shakib Al Hasan scored 11 runs. Mosaddek Hossain Saikat played an averagely enough inning of 34 runs. His knock was accompanied by Mahmudullah’s unbeaten 31 runs in the final overs. Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza scored 9 runs and the batting inning of Bangladesh ended up totalling a score of 155 runs in 20 overs.
Well known fast-bowler Lasith Malinga picked up two wickets while Seekkuge Prasanna, Asela Gunaratne and Vikum Sanjaya picked up one wicket each. Pacer Nuwan Kulasekara went wicketless in the first inning of the game. Sri Lanka’s batting inning commenced with a stable partnership between Upul Tharanga and wicket-keeper-batsman Kusal Parera.
Tharanga scored 24 runs and Kusal Parera scored 77 runs in Sri Lanka’s batting inning. Dilshan Munaweera scored only 8 runs and failed to play a big inning which could have played vital role in chasing the big target of 156 runs. After Kusal Parera’s wicket, Asela Gunaratne scored 17 runs and his companion Seekkuge Prasanna scored 22 runs. All rounder cricketer Thisara Perera gave finishing touch to the match by hitting a boundary on fifth ball of 19th over.
