Sri Lankan cricketer Angelo Mathews to be announced as team’s limited overs captain

Popular Sri Lankan cricketer Angelo Mathews is about to be announced as the national cricket team’s limited overs captain. The right arm cricket player will be declared as the team’s skipper about six months after he stepped down as the captain across all formats of the game.

The 30 year old experienced cricketer, who has played crucial role in his team’s victory in several T20 and ODI matches played in recent years, will lead the team in upcoming Twenty-20 and One-Day-International series. According sources, Mathews is expected to lead his national cricket team in 2019’s ICC World Cup.

Confirming his appointment as team’s new captain, a cricket official told cricbuzz, “Angelo agreed to take over the reins after Head Coach Chandika Hathurusingha convinced him. The selectors spoke to him on Monday after training and he will be announced as the new captain Tuesday morning.”

Known for showcasing excellent performance in the slowest format of cricket, Dinesh Chandimal will be taking over as team’s captain in Test cricket. The right handed famous Sri Lankan cricketer is going to lead his national cricket team in forthcoming Test matches.
